Captain Moroni proxy commander deck
When designing my first Book of Mormon-themed commander deck, I could think of no one more fitting to lead the charge in the commander slot than Captain Moroni.
A brilliant strategist and fearsome warrior, Moroni led the Nephite nation to victory despite overwhelming odds. Mormon himself wrote "if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever" (Alma 48:17).
This red/white deck is designed to feel like leading the Nephite armies to victory by equipping your forces with powerful artifacts and going on the offensive. It's a deck that rewards taking big risks and unconventional "strategems".
Deck style: Tempo / Voltron
Key mechanics: Extra combats, damage redirection, equipment.
Tactical recommendations:
Attack early, attack always. Equipment + Moroni’s first-strike, lifelink, and trample, empowers you to swing into superior board states with minimal risk.
Stack Moroni's damage doubling with everything! Use Moroni’s damage-doubling effects in tandem with extra combat phases for a "messy", high-speed finish.
Hidden combos. Look for game-winning damage redirection combos tucked within the 99!
